Library Association of Singapore 2008 Conference

May 8, 2008toMay 9, 2008

Last month on the March 9, I have blogged that my very first conference paper has been accepted. April has come and I am kind of hustle and bustle with a number of presentation lining up in a row. Last week I just finished of presenting a conceptualised paper for my last module in my postgraduate course.

H6697 Special Topic: Information Entrepreneurship
I took this special subject called Information Entrepreneurship. Basically, it stated “… Information entrepreneurship is an area of entrepreneurship that focuses on the development of innovative ideas in the information and technology sector.” The rest you have to check out from H6697 Special Topic: Information Entrepreneurship page.

In my project, my team have developed PerpustakanMelayu.com, as part if the subject assignment, PerpustakanMelayu.com is an initiative project by a group of students, comprising from the library science background and a charter accountant. This site is hope to be the first Malay Studies site that will be heavy comprises with all the relevant academic materials for the Malay Studies. All the informations hosted on this site are just sample to demonstrate that this technology is able to work as a small digital library. This library will then able to serve the academic community for supplement their domain knowledge in the Malay Studies.

Unfortunately, we are not going to present this at Library Association of Singapore 2008 Conference as this prototype is still inmature, although a number of people have viewed this. Basically, it work from the platform of a Wordpress press that I have reconstructed into a social library. Of course, to protect the business model, I have to put in login authentication page. The best part make used of the excerpt part as a bait for social tools to fetch / market the inside content. Not to mention with the integration with Facebook too attracted my markers during the presentation. Thanks to FotoBook and WordBook. To find more about FotoBook development by Aaron Harp, you can check his work out at this blog site.

LAS Conference 2008

In LAS Conference 2008, I will be presenting, “Innovative Library Web Marketing Practices in Singapore”. The basic model has been determined against the survey questions that covers up the elements of today web marketing. Allow me to show a little snip bites of the basic model adopted from If you are an NTU staffs or students, you can access and view from your academic library database page or directly click to this url.

Well here is a shot of the hype cycle from the report.

And, it look complicated right for a librarian to understand. Well again, I am going to translate this hype cycle using the notes from A Complete List of the Many Forms of Web Marketing for 2008 by Jeremiah Owyang (a Web Strategist) into a simple model that any librarians couple adopt and talking advantage for their library to use. This also will form a part of a my thesis beef up a concierge model for the library to ride on.

So check out, what I have more for the community. Meanwhile, if you want to know more, I have created and event page at Facebook. You are invited to join, check out the videos and photos that I will be sharing up there. For more information, check out at Library Association of Singapore 2008 Conference website.
