Hi mate, about the Knol thingy – not sure my survey input is relevant as I had not used or heard of it till today and my last visit to Google website (this morning-which happens to be my firefox Homepage) does not have any indication of the Knol service. Do apologies if I am wasting your resources with neutral answers to most of the survey questions.
Do keep up the good work!
Cheers!
Hi Rizal,
It is alright if you have not been to Google Knol before. Anyway, it can be located at http://knol.google.com.
Knol makes it free and easy to create, collaborate on, and publish credible web content. Put your name behind your content; write a knol.
Thank for feedback and also participating in this survey. =)

Dude, survey done. I take a step further to help you up on this survey. I look for a quick analysis between Google Knol and Wikipedia. This is what I found. First, it revealed that the traffic for Knol has certainly posed no danger to Wikipedia’s position atop most search engine results. Second, even a long, detailed article on IPv6-the sort of thing that would seem to be a natural fit for Knol-attracts only a handful of pageviews a week. (Wikipedia’s entry is number two on the list, but Knol is MIA)
Third, as for the quality of the content, Google’s attempt at monetizing (both for itself and for its authors) the Knol entries has had a perverse effect. While it has attracted plenty of detailed commentary from learned professionals, it’s drowning in plenty more that is basically spam, plagiarism, or a stub, thrown up in the apparent hope of making some quick cash.
Other posts, while interesting, appear to be cut-and-paste jobs from a company brochure or HTML versions of existing works.
With its mix of philosophical rants, Wikipedia-style entries, and how-to pieces, Knol feels unfocused, certainly not the kind of site designed for browsing.
In conclusion, it’s early in Knol’s development and, with the resources of a company like Google behind it, the project might stick around until it becomes a niche hit like Orkut-huge in Brazil, but nearly unknown elsewhere. At the moment, though, Knol is struggling up a knoll of its own, and the top isn’t yet in sight.
Sincerely,
Cedric
Hi Cedric,
Thanks for helping out in my survey and the comments. Knol is still in beta stage for Google. But, your points are valid correct. We still have to wait what Google decision on Google actually. I will released out my findings soon and what the survey has illustrated in late December.
Regards,
Hazman Aziz
