Mendaki has organised an interesting dialogue session for youths actively involved in the New Media arena in the Malay/Muslim community in Singapore. The session will be chaired by MP Mr Zaqy Mohamad. MP Dr. Fatimah Lateef, MP Dr. Md. Faishal Ibrahim & also Mr Masagos Zulkifli Bin Masagos Mohamad (Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Home Affairs) attended the dialogue session. I was invited by the extended welcome of a new friend, Hazrul Azhar Jamari, who blogs at TypeCanvas Mag.
This was my first time upfront with the Malay communities leaders (politicians) to discuss bout New Media arena and how organisation such as Mendaki is able to deliver a media education on the social impact (or implication) in the Singapore ’s region.
In the session, we discussed:
- The New Media Landscape
- Opportunities for Malay/Muslim community to embrace new media to gain knowledge in social knowledge issues, such as family matters, social issues & cultural advocacy
- Where are these people in the social sphere actually, the virtual community
- The relevance channels for media literacy
My take:
This time, my presence towards local scene (the Malay community) really impressed me with the guys’ passion and contributions towards the new media and selling away their creative passion. They really pushed their limits to the sky with the passion zeal in them and sharing their ideas to contribute the social knowledge networks. Their main forecast is promoting the Malay/Muslim advocacy in a numbers of way using New Media channel.
Usually, I have been interacting with the information professional from the academia scene. Now, the experience is difference as the focus switch to the heartlands and the grassroots leaders – the Member of Parliament (Malay community)
A lot of stuffs, I learn from both side.
Who has joined me in this session?

Both LFCA and Prima are using the platform development by Hazman Aziz Labs. The platform is built using an info-conceirge model to target the right community for each business operation, align to the technology use in a strategic way.
How can new media address this issue?
We have the technology, but it is the content. The content is the problem. What are we supposed to do? Ponder, ponder ponder.
