This is actually a good news for MAC users. MAMP Technology is here. What is MAMP technology stands for? The abbreviation MAMP stands for: Macintosh, Apache, Mysql and PHP. With just a few mouse-clicks, you can install Apache, PHP and MySQL for Mac OS X as defined on their website.
What does this mean to the Hazman Aziz.com?
We can now started to purchase Apple computers, especially iMAC to be exact for my new bed room proposal. I have this idea to revamp my bedroom into a studio, where I can work and sleep at the same time. Sorry, guys, i still living with my two folks at this age of 27. I am not in Australia anymore and in Singapore. Usually, Singaporeans, they tend to live with their folks till they proceed on into marriage life. Because, the housing here is to expensive for me to afford order to own one.
So, I tab on wherever resources I have now since I returned back of Australia in 2006. Living with folks, it is not bad after all, especially having your mom to cook every meals for you. This what I love about my mom. And of course, dad too. Someone to talk every night and chat with a cup of coffee. We can just chat all kinds of topics till morning. And, during weekends, sometimes my girl will drop by. We have a family cooking sessions. Simply simple and lovely. But, I miss that as now my girlfriend is doing her final in La Trobe University at the School of Health Sciences. Another stuffs that I missed is the presences of my brother. we used to play console games and then have some brotherly fight who win or lose at the game. But, thos we fun as our rapport bring us together as brother.
Today, things are different. It is usually left the three of us, mom, dad and me. But, I cherish every moments happening on Sunday. One of this, laid back and doing some coding. Knowing that MAMP Technology is here, now my wishlist to get a iMAC with 24-inch is really make me restless.
Just for the update. “MAMP was created primarily as a PHP development environment for Macintosh computer and should therefore not be used as Live Webserver for the Internet. In this case, we recommend that you use Mac OS X server with the provided Apache or a Linux server.” MAMP can be download at this url: http://www.mamp.info/. It is under the GNU General Public License and may thereby be distributed freely within the boundaries of this license.
What about for Windows?
Yups, for Windows, there is tools call WampServer. Can be located on this url: http://www.wampserver.com/. It also allows you to create web applications with Apache, PHP and the MySQL database. It also comes with PHPMyAdmin and SQLiteManager to easily manage the databases. Once WampServer is installed, you have the possibility to add as many Apache, MySQL and PHP releases as you want.

There are also other products such as easyPHP (www.easyphp.org/) and XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/). Well, what can librarians do with this tools? Particularly, for systems librarians like me or librarians who are involved a lot with Web 2.0, especially in terms with development for our library to move on.
We can says sayornara to the waiting time and all the agreementsĀ for the justification of a web server with our system administrator. Cut this time short, we straight installed the tools and start our dirty hands works with all the tools we have and required. And, we come out with the prototype build. Bingo, here a Library 2.0 application has development and ready to be push to the production server.
See how much time saving we can get. So, do try out and feedback to me anything under this topic.

Actually Hazman, the Mac already comes with Apache, MySQL and PHP. For Mac OSX Server it comes by default.
For the desktop, you only need to download and install MySQL, and a tweak of the Apache server is necessary.
MAMP is a stack environment. Whereas what you have on the Mac is customised.
Yup. agreed. MAMP more suitable for professional without programming background, like librarians, educators (teachers) and information officer. Politician who would like to have a web presence, they might incline to prefer this tools for their web development.
For students, (like primary & secondary school) if they have the interests in to know web development. They can explore using this tool .
