I have added a new component to this site. It is called “Search Library Catalogue.” This component has two sets: (i) search the library catalogue where I am currently working  (NTU) and the other is searching the World Cat. It is really not much, just a copy and paste coding. But, I took more than 2 hours to deliver this due to I would like to try AJAX programming. I have managed to design a couple.

Example 1

Unfortunately, when I trying to integrated into this blog, the AJAX does work. Maybe it is due to my existing tabs which aggregates information from the social tool. Anyway, I have managed to spilt the area into two parts. You guys can now try and search directly from my site.

If all librarians are able to deliver this and provide this service model, they are more than a consultant. I guess their professions will be more respected by every industry. Take a look on my design.

Example 2More notes on how to deliver this?

One of the great website that I used for from Witty Spark. They have covered the top 26 Best ways to implement AJAX, CSS and Javascript based Tabs.Tabs is has been one of popular and favour ways for web designers to present multiple information on a single platform. The feasibility and ease switching is so conviently.

As you can see, I am trying to consolidate 3 types of OPAC searches on this component. Last tab is give out informatio, what is OPAC or Library Catalogue is all about. Anyway, i can’t integrated, but I will work hard to find ways to get this done. Meanwhile check out the lists at Witty Spark:

Here is the list of examples are arranged randomly,

and many more.

If you check with me, why my academic library’s site does not this function? The reason is I am not in charge of the programming team. My roles is more on liaison for IT project to take place. Lately, I am not that involved on any web development in my library. That is one of the reasons, I have time to do some reading up and at night create this prototype.
